Chris Carmichael is a partner with The Cochran Firm – Chicago representing clients in civil rights cases, criminal matters, wrongful death, and serious personal injury matters. Chris began his career as a law clerk to a federal appellate judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Over the next fifteen years, Chris gained extensive experience as a civil litigator with an international law firm handling complex, multi-million-dollar cases. He also taught law students as an Adjunct Professor of Law at DePaul University.
Chris is an accomplished appellate advocate having argued dozens of cases before the appellate and supreme courts, including the precedent setting cases of: Baker v. Forest Preserve District, 2015 IL App (1st) 141157; Burnett v. Stroger, 905 N.E.2d 939 (Ill. 1st Dist. 2009); and People ex rel. City of Chicago v. Le Mirage, Inc. et al., 2011 IL App (1st) 093547, 2013 IL App (1st) 093547-B.
Chris is admitted to practice in Illinois, Massachusetts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the Northern District of Illinois, including the trial bar, the Central District of Illinois, and the Southern District of Illinois.
